Gloria Nneka has alleged that her ex-husband accused her of infidelity and demanded that she undergo traditional cleansing and sacrifice rites before she could have access to their child.
Speaking during an interview on Brekete Family, a human rights programme, Nneka said she rejected the demand, insisting she had done nothing to justify such a ritual.
According to her, the dispute escalated after she refused to comply with the requirement, leading her ex-husband to prevent her from seeing their child.
Nneka further alleged that he warned her against visiting or feeding the child, claiming the child would die if she did so before undergoing the cleansing rites. She also said he threatened that she could face imprisonment if she attempted to see the child without his permission.
“He said I must go and do cleansing and sacrifice, and I said I will not do it because what he is claiming is that I am following other men and men are sleeping with me; therefore I must do the tradition,” she said.
The allegations were made as Nneka recounted her ongoing custody dispute and efforts to regain access to her child. The claims have not been independently verified, and there was no immediate response from her ex-husband regarding the allegations.
