A young man has been arrested following the alleged killing of his girlfriend in Edjeba Community, Warri South Local Government Area of Delta State.
The incident reportedly occurred in the early hours of June 23, 2026, at the suspect’s residence on Ajidi Street, Edjeba. According to reports, the couple had been in a romantic relationship for some time, and the woman was known to frequently visit the apartment.
Residents became alerted to the situation after the landlord reportedly heard distressing screams coming from the apartment. Concerned by the noise, he contacted security operatives, who responded to the scene.
Police officers who searched the apartment allegedly discovered the woman’s lifeless body with severe injuries. Her remains were subsequently evacuated and deposited in a mortuary.
The suspect was arrested at the scene and taken into custody for questioning as investigations continue.
Confirming the incident, the spokesperson of the Delta State Police Command, CSP Bright Edafe, said the case is under investigation.
“It’s confirmed. As for the claim that he is involved in internet fraud, I am not aware of that,” Edafe said.
Authorities have not released further details as investigations remain ongoing.
