A helicopter carrying Isaac Herzog made an unscheduled landing after colliding with a flock of birds during a flight, according to the Israel Defense Forces.
According to a report by The Times of Israel on June 25, 2026, Herzog was travelling from a memorial event at Mount Herzzl in Jerusalem to a shiva visit in northern Israel when the incident occurred.
The helicopter landed safely at Palmachim Airbase following the bird strike. Military officials said no one on board was injured, and the aircraft showed no apparent damage.
Herzog and the flight crew later transferred to another helicopter and continued their journey without further disruption.
The military said the aircraft had been handed over to Israeli Air Force technical personnel for inspection and maintenance before being returned to service. Officials added that the circumstances surrounding the bird strike remain under investigation.
