Political commentator Tucker Carlson has claimed that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu spent decades urging successive U.S. presidents to take military action against Iran, but that only President Donald Trump ultimately agreed.
Speaking in a video posted by Sky News on June 25, 2026, Carlson responded to questions about why Trump, despite his long-standing opposition to Middle East regime-change wars, approved military action against Iran.
“You’re absolutely right. The core premise of your question is undeniable. Many presidents have faced this pressure. Only Trump caved. That’s just a fact. So, as I said, I don’t know why,” Carlson said.
Carlson noted that he had discussed the issue with Trump on several occasions before the decision and said the president had consistently expressed opposition to such action during those conversations.
While acknowledging he could not explain Trump’s decision, Carlson suggested it may have been influenced by advisers or other factors, though he did not identify anyone specifically. He added that the circumstances surrounding the decision warrant closer examination.
