Twelve teams have been eliminated from the 2026 FIFA World Cup following the conclusion of most group-stage matches, according to Daily Post Nigeria on June 27, 2026.
The latest nations to exit the tournament are Iraq, Uruguay, Saudi Arabia, and New Zealand after failing to secure enough points to qualify for the Round of 32.
Iraq’s campaign ended with a 5-0 defeat to Senegal, while New Zealand suffered a 5-1 loss to Belgium. Uruguay bowed out after a 1-0 defeat to Spain, and Saudi Arabia were eliminated despite holding Cape Verde to a goalless draw, as their earlier results left them short of qualification.
With the expanded 2026 World Cup format, every group-stage fixture has carried added significance, and a total of 16 teams will be eliminated before the knockout phase begins.
The teams officially knocked out so far are Haiti, Turkey, Tunisia, Jordan, Panama, Qatar, the Czech Republic, Curaçao, Iraq, Uruguay, Saudi Arabia, and New Zealand.
