“We’ve Seen People Go to Do NIN Registration and Falsify. We’ve Seen People Go to Do That” — Sanusi

Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Commissioner of Police Ahmed Mohamed Sanusi has raised concerns over the submission of false information by some motorists applying for tinted vehicle permits, warning that the practice poses security risks and complicates law enforcement.

Speaking on Channels Television on Sunday, June 28, 2026, Sanusi said police have uncovered cases where applicants provide misleading information during official registration processes.

“Some of these informations that some persons give might not necessarily be correct. Some of them might be misleading,” he said.

Sanusi added that the problem extends beyond tinted vehicle permits. “We’ve seen people go to do NIN registration and falsify. We’ve seen people go to do other registrations and falsify things. The only thing that will be true will be their face,” he stated.

The police commissioner explained that such cases make routine identity verification necessary, even for motorists with valid tinted vehicle permits. He said the checks are intended to prevent criminals from exploiting official documents to evade security scrutiny, not to harass law-abiding citizens.

Sanusi reaffirmed the command’s commitment to intelligence-driven policing and urged Nigerians to provide accurate information during official registration processes.
