Singer Mr Real Criticises First Lady’s Business Advice

Afrobeats singer Mr Real has criticized First Lady Oluremi Tinubu’s call for Nigerians to embrace petty trading, including selling akara, kulikuli, and roasted corn, as a response to economic hardship. Reacting to the remarks, which sparked mixed reactions, the “Legbegbe” singer described the advice as insensitive, saying he would rather join bandits than engage in the suggested businesses.

NSCDC Recovers Stolen School Property in Benin

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Edo State Command, has arrested a scrap dealer and recovered suspected stolen school property in Benin City. During a June 25 monitoring exercise at Oriohhene Primary School in Oredo Local Government Area, officials discovered extensive vandalism, including the theft of classroom chairs, air conditioners, and roofing sheets. A follow-up operation at a scrap yard on Evbienwen Street, Iyaro, led to the recovery of roofing sheets and other items believed to have been stolen from public schools.

NDC Accuses INEC of Blocking Candidate Nominations

The Nigeria Democratic Coalition (NDC) has alleged that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) denied it the access code required to upload candidates to the nomination portal. National spokesman Osa Director said the party sought the code while preparing to challenge a Federal High Court judgment ordering its deregistration but was unable to obtain it.

IED Explosion Kills One, Injures Several in Sokoto

One person was killed and several others injured after a vehicle struck an improvised explosive device allegedly planted by suspected bandits along the Kurawa–Sabon Birni road in Sokoto State on Sunday. The vehicle was transporting passengers to Sabon Birni when the explosion occurred. Security analyst Bashir Guyawa disclosed the incident, which has heightened concerns over the growing use of explosives by armed groups in Nigeria’s North-West.
