Yoruba Nation campaigner Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho, has assured supporters that he is safe and that members of his private security outfit, Iru Ekun, injured in an ambush by suspected bandits in the Old Oyo National Park have fully recovered.
In a video message released on Saturday, Igboho dismissed rumours about his safety and thanked supporters within and outside Nigeria for their concern. He confirmed that the wounded operatives received medical treatment and had recovered.
The attack occurred during an operation in the Old Oyo National Park, where Iru Ekun members were tracking suspected kidnappers and armed gangs believed to be using the forest as a hideout. According to sources familiar with the operation, the team deployed surveillance drones before advancing into the area but came under heavy gunfire from suspected cross-border criminal groups, leaving several operatives injured.
Despite the incident, Igboho said the attack would not deter his security outfit from continuing operations against kidnappers, bandits and other criminal elements. He reiterated that protecting lives and property remains a priority and urged supporters to disregard false reports about his condition.
