The family of the late Benue State Chairman of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN), Alhaji Ardo Risku Muhammad, has raised fresh concerns over the circumstances surrounding his killing after a police-arranged peace meeting in Ohimini Local Government Area.
According to Daily Trust, Muhammad’s eldest son, Muhammad Idris, said his father accepted an invitation from the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) for a peace dialogue in Idekpa, expecting the Ohimini Local Government Chairman and the Ado of Ohimini to attend.
However, Idris said his father arrived to find only the DPO and a group of elders from the Awule and Alulu communities. “This was contrary to what the DPO had earlier communicated to him,” he said.
Idris added that his father questioned the absence of the expected officials, but the DPO reportedly assured him the meeting could proceed. Discussions centred on complaints that cattle had destroyed farmlands and concerns that residents feared approaching Fulani settlements directly.
Muhammad was attacked and killed while returning home from the meeting, prompting his family to question the circumstances surrounding the incident.
