Atiku Asks Tinubu to Probe Scandal

According to Daily Trust on Friday, July 3, 2026, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has called on President Bola Tinubu to order a thorough investigation into the controversy surrounding the Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC).

Atiku said the latest revelations have elevated the matter beyond an alleged case of document forgery, describing it as a serious institutional crisis that could undermine the credibility and integrity of public institutions.

He argued that allegations of such magnitude should not be dismissed as political distractions, stressing that Nigerians deserve clear explanations regarding the PFIPC and the authenticity of the documents and claims associated with it.

The former vice president said public confidence in government institutions depends on transparency, adherence to the rule of law and impartial investigations. He warned that any perception of concealment or selective accountability could further erode trust in Nigeria’s democratic institutions.

Atiku urged authorities to conduct a transparent, independent and comprehensive probe, insisting that anyone found culpable should be held accountable regardless of status or political affiliation. He said only a credible investigation can restore public confidence and reinforce the principles of justice, transparency and accountability.
