According to Football Transfers on Friday, July 3, 2026, Chelsea are considering the future of winger Alejandro Garnacho after Serie A side AS Roma made initial enquiries about signing the Argentina international.
Roma are understood to be exploring a deal for the 21-year-old, although discussions remain at an early stage and no agreement has been reached.
Garnacho joined Chelsea from Manchester United for around €46.2 million after falling out of favour under former United manager Ruben Amorim. However, he endured a difficult first season at Stamford Bridge, scoring eight goals in all competitions, with most coming against lower-division opposition in domestic cups. He found the net just once in the Premier League.
His struggles also affected his international prospects, with Argentina coach Lionel Scaloni leaving him out of the squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Chelsea are reportedly willing to consider offers if they can recover a significant portion of their investment. Interest in West Ham United winger Crysencio Summerville has further fuelled speculation over Garnacho’s future.
Italian transfer expert Alfredo Pedullà said Roma have contacted Chelsea for information, while the London club are expected to allow new head coach Xabi Alonso to assess the player during pre-season before making a final decision.
