Former Kaduna Central Senator Shehu Sani has reacted to remarks by the Eze Ndigbo of Kano State, Igwe Boniface Ibekwe, who said many Igbos living in the state have prospered.
Ibekwe stated that several members of the Igbo community arrived in Kano with little but went on to achieve significant financial success.
“Some of our people are billionaires. They didn’t have money before, but they’re blessed in Kano,” Ibekwe said.
Responding in a post on his official X account on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, Shehu Sani endorsed the sentiment, writing: “The Igbos in Kano State are comfortable.”
The exchange has drawn attention on social media, with many users discussing the contributions of the Igbo community to commerce and business in Kano and the longstanding relationship between residents of both regions.
