Former Ekiti State Governor Ayodele Fayose has said he is politically senior to Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde, urging him to be mindful of his actions to protect his reputation.
In a video shared on his official X account on Wednesday, July 8, 2026, Fayose stated that he served as governor of Ekiti State at the same time the late Olusegun Agagu was governor of Ondo State, stressing that he belonged to an earlier generation of political leaders than Makinde.
“I was governor of Ekiti State when Olusegun Agagu was governor of Ondo State. I’m not your mate,” Fayose said, adding that he is ahead of Makinde “in all ramifications.”
The former governor also cautioned Makinde against actions he believes could damage his public image, warning that if he is not careful, he could “ruin” his name and political reputation.
The remarks come amid ongoing political discussions involving leading figures within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
