Labour Party National Vice Chairman (South-West), Abayomi Arabambi, says he has petitioned the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to investigate four bank accounts he alleges were linked to Peter Obi’s presidential campaign.
Speaking in an interview posted on SYMFONI’s official YouTube channel on Thursday, July 9, 2026, Arabambi claimed the accounts were opened with different commercial banks without the knowledge of the Labour Party leadership. “I have petitioned the EFCC because Obi will never escape. I petitioned the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, and these are the four accounts that must be investigated,” he said.
Arabambi alleged that party officials only became aware of the accounts when authorization documents were reportedly required before withdrawals could be made. He also questioned the role of individuals he claimed became signatories to the accounts, alleging that party leaders, including Julius Abure and the party secretary, were unaware of the arrangements.
During the interview, the interviewer noted that the allegations remain unproven and questioned whether the accounts were campaign accounts rather than official Labour Party accounts. Arabambi maintained that the EFCC should thoroughly investigate the accounts and documents he said he had submitted in support of his petition.
