A military source has revealed that the arrest and interrogation of the wives and family members of suspected kidnappers played a key role in the successful rescue of abducted pupils and their teachers in Oriire, Oyo State.
According to Vanguard, the source, who requested anonymity, said the suspects’ family members were taken to Abuja and questioned as part of a coordinated security operation aimed at weakening the captors and gathering intelligence.
While details of the information obtained were not disclosed, the source said the intelligence helped security operatives identify the kidnappers’ locations, hideouts and methods of operation.
The source noted that the rescue mission lasted more than a month, with the military deploying available resources to ensure the victims were freed without casualties.
“The family members were subsequently taken to Abuja, where the wives were interrogated in accordance with investigative procedures,” the source said.
According to the military source, the intelligence gathered enabled security forces to locate and engage the kidnappers, leading to the safe rescue of the pupils and their teachers without harm.
