Former House of Representatives member, Professor Haruna Yerima, has expressed confidence that President Bola Tinubu’s decision to retain Vice President Kashim Shettima as his running mate for the 2027 presidential election will strengthen the All Progressives Congress (APC).
According to Daily Trust, Yerima said the decision reflected Tinubu’s confidence in Shettima’s competence, experience, loyalty and commitment to the administration’s agenda. “President Tinubu selected Shettima to assist him in executing his agenda. This is after careful and meticulous analysis of his performance in the last three years,” he said.
Yerima described Shettima as a seasoned politician whose leadership, intellectual capacity and public service record have earned him respect across political divides. He noted that the Vice President’s career spans academia, banking, service as a commissioner in Borno State, governor, senator representing Borno Central and now Vice President.
The APC formally presented Tinubu and Shettima as its 2027 presidential ticket after National Chairman Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda received their nomination on Friday for submission to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), in line with electoral guidelines.:::
