Former Anambra State Governor and Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential candidate Peter Obi has reacted to the recent killings in Benue State, stressing that the protection of lives and property remains the government’s primary responsibility.
According to Daily Post, Obi’s statement followed a directive by the King of Otukpo Kingdom, Chief John Eimonye, ordering herders to leave the kingdom after a terrorist attack on Nobi village.
In a post shared on his X account on Monday, Obi expressed concern over the continued loss of lives, saying every Nigerian life is valuable.
“Every Nigerian life is sacred and every life lost is one too many. These are not mere statistics; they are fathers, mothers, children, breadwinners and future leaders whose dreams have been violently cut short,” he wrote.
Obi’s remarks sparked reactions on social media, with users expressing differing views on his comments and the security situation in Benue State.
