The father of Lieutenant Felix Ademe Isaac, the Nigerian Army officer killed during the rescue of abducted teachers and schoolchildren in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State, has described his son’s death as a painful loss.
According to a Daily Trust report on Monday, July 13, 2026, retired Master Warrant Officer Isaac Alabura said his son had just returned from a training programme at the Nigerian Defence Academy in Jaji, Kaduna State, and was preparing for another assignment in Sokoto when his plans changed.
“His death is deeply painful. He had just returned from training at the Nigerian Defence Academy in Jaji, Kaduna, and was preparing to report to Sokoto for another assignment. Around 3:00 p.m., he was instead directed to lead the rescue operation in Oyo,” Alabura said.
Lieutenant Isaac was killed while leading the operation that secured the release of the kidnapped victims. His father expressed pride in his son’s dedication and patriotism but appealed to the Nigerian military and the Oyo State Government to support the family he left behind.
Alabura urged the authorities to recognise his son’s sacrifice and provide adequate assistance to his dependants, noting that he paid the ultimate price while protecting innocent Nigerians. The officer’s death has drawn tributes from many Nigerians, who have hailed his courage and renewed calls for greater support for families of fallen security personnel.
