Mrs. Rachael Alamu has recounted the hardships she and other abducted teachers and pupils endured during their captivity in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State.
Speaking in a video shared by TVC, Alamu said the kidnappers gave biscuits to the children during the first week of captivity but later stopped providing them.
She also revealed that the captives were repeatedly forced to relocate whenever the abductors believed security forces had discovered their hideout. According to her, the movements typically began around 7 or 8 p.m. and involved walking through the forest for several hours.
“When the place is discovered, we had to move and that starts around 7 or 8 in the night. Sometimes we walk for 4 hours. That is the reason for most of the bruises you see on our bodies,” Alamu said.
She explained that the repeated nighttime treks across difficult terrain left many of the victims with bruises and severe physical exhaustion.
Alamu’s account adds to testimonies from other rescued victims, who said they were frequently moved by their captors as security forces intensified efforts to locate and rescue them after nearly two months in captivity.
