Manchester United Player Officially Confirms Departure After 8 Years at the Club

Manchester United academy midfielder Mylee Dunbar has confirmed her departure from the club after spending eight years in its youth system.

According to the Manchester Evening News on Tuesday, July 14, 2026, the 15-year-old announced her exit in a heartfelt social media post, describing the decision as difficult but necessary for her personal and football development.

Dunbar joined Manchester United’s academy at the age of seven and progressed through the ranks at Carrington. During her time at the club, she also represented England Futsal and was selected for the Under-16 County Football Squad.

Reflecting on her journey, Dunbar said academy football comes with significant pressure, uncertainty and sacrifice. Despite the challenges, she described her years at United as rewarding, crediting the club, coaches, staff and teammates for supporting her development.

She thanked everyone who played a role in her progress, saying it had been an honour and privilege to wear the Manchester United badge. Dunbar also wished her teammates success in their careers, expressing gratitude for the friendships and memories they shared.

The midfielder noted that the club supported her decision to pursue a different path, adding that her departure marks the beginning of a new chapter rather than the end of her football career.

Although she is leaving Old Trafford, Dunbar said Manchester United played a significant role in shaping her as a player and insisted she would always remain “a Red at heart.”
