Thirty-one pupils rescued after the recent school abduction in Oyo State have been discharged from the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH) Teaching Hospital after receiving medical treatment and being certified fit to return home.
The discharged pupils had undergone medical examinations, treatment, and observation following their rescue from weeks of captivity. Hospital officials confirmed that they responded well to care and no longer required hospitalization.
However, eight other rescued pupils remain under medical supervision as they continue receiving treatment and psychological support. According to the hospital, the decision to keep them under care was made to ensure they achieve full physical and emotional recovery before being reunited with their families.
The management of LAUTECH Teaching Hospital said all the children received comprehensive medical assessments upon arrival, including treatment for minor health conditions, nutritional support, and psychological evaluations to address the trauma associated with their ordeal.
Hospital authorities explained that while most of the pupils recovered quickly, some still require specialized medical attention and counseling. They emphasized that no child would be discharged until doctors are fully satisfied with their overall condition.
Parents and relatives of the discharged pupils expressed appreciation to the medical team, the Oyo State Government, and security agencies for their roles in the rescue operation and the care provided to the children.
The Oyo State Government also commended healthcare workers and security personnel for their efforts, reaffirming its commitment to supporting the rescued pupils through continued rehabilitation and counseling as they recover from the traumatic experience.
