I Am Aware Habila Served as Personal Nurse to Umahi. I’ll Not Accept Any Autopsy on Her Body — Father

The father of late nurse Mary Habila, Tanko Habila Wisdom, has opposed an autopsy on his daughter’s body and withdrawn the family’s participation in the investigation into her death. In an affidavit filed before the Ebonyi State High Court, he requested the immediate release of her body for burial.

Habila, who died on June 27, 2026, reportedly served as a staff member of the David Umahi Federal University of Medical Sciences and was on secondment to the Federal Ministry of Works, where her father said she worked as Minister David Umahi’s personal nurse for about three years. He stated the family welcomed efforts to determine the cause of death but would not permit an autopsy, insisting they suspect no foul play. The Ebonyi State Police Command had earlier proposed a post-mortem, while the court is yet to rule on the family’s application.
