A senior Iranian lawmaker has urged U.S. troops to leave the Middle East immediately, saying they would do so if they fully understood the warning recently issued by Iran’s Supreme Leader.
According to Al Jazeera English, Ebrahim Azizi, chairman of the Iranian Parliament’s National Security and Foreign Policy Committee, made the remarks in a post on X on Sunday, July 19, 2026, in response to a message from Supreme Leader Ayatollah Seyyed Mojtaba Khamenei.
“If American soldiers knew what the wise and resolute Leader meant by ‘unforgettable lessons,’ they wouldn’t waste a single second before fleeing,” Azizi wrote.
He said the Supreme Leader’s message indicated that Iran and its regional allies were prepared to impose serious consequences if the United States continued military operations against the country. Azizi also argued that recent battlefield developments demonstrated Iran’s resolve and the determination of its allied resistance forces.
The comments followed Khamenei’s warning that Washington would face severe consequences if it continued military action against Iran, accusing the U.S. of escalating the conflict.
The remarks come amid heightened tensions between Tehran and Washington following reciprocal strikes on military and strategic targets. Diplomatic efforts to revive a memorandum of understanding reached last month have stalled, with both sides accusing each other of violating the agreement, raising concerns about a wider regional conflict.
