Former Minister of Youth and Sports Development Solomon Dalung has criticised President Bola Tinubu’s administration, questioning its ability to tackle hunger and separate governance from politics.
Speaking during an interview on SYMFONI TV, Dalung argued that if the government had implemented effective agricultural policies over the past three years, more young Nigerians would have been engaged in farming and the country would not be experiencing widespread hunger.
He said the administration should have established functional farms and created a credible national committee on food supply and security to focus on ensuring food availability while the president concentrated on broader governance.
Dalung also accused Tinubu of failing to distinguish between governance and politics, arguing that national leadership requires working with people across political divides to address the country’s challenges.
He cited former military president Ibrahim Babangida as an example, urging Tinubu to study Babangida’s approach to governance and the lessons contained in his memoir.
“I hear them say Tinubu is a very strategic politician. How strategic is Tinubu that he cannot even solve a problem of hunger?” Dalung said.
