Activist and former presidential candidate Omoyele Sowore has alleged that a Department of State Services (DSS) officer disowned a document presented as evidence in his ongoing court case, raising questions about its authenticity.
According to Symfoni News, Sowore made the remarks while addressing journalists after a Federal High Court session on Wednesday, July 22, 2026.
Sowore claimed the DSS officer, identified as Owen Davies, testified that he did not author the letter attributed to him. “We found out that the DSS forged letter on behalf of their staff. Owen Davies said before the Federal High Court judge that the letter presented was not authored,” Sowore said.
He further alleged that the disputed letter contained references to supporters of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu but said the officer denied writing it. According to Sowore, “They read a portion of the letter to him, asked if he knew Tinubu’s supporters—he said no.”
Sowore said his legal team had asked the court to summon the Director-General of the DSS to clarify issues surrounding the document. He also urged Nigerians to follow the proceedings closely and called on security agencies to uphold professionalism, fairness and the rule of law.
