Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain Dan Ulasi has declared his support for Peter Obi ahead of the 2027 presidential election, saying his position is a personal democratic choice despite FCT Minister Nyesom Wike’s backing of President Bola Tinubu.
According to a video published on the official Arise News YouTube channel on Friday, July 24, 2026, Ulasi said the 2027 election would be crucial to Nigeria’s future and urged voters to assess candidates based on competence, credibility, and leadership rather than political affiliations or endorsements.
“It’s a serious battle coming in 2027 because we are talking about the survival of this country. So, my friend, the FCT Minister, can support Tinubu, but I am supporting Peter Obi. It is my right to say so,” Ulasi said.
He maintained that his support for Obi was protected by his constitutional right as a Nigerian citizen and stressed that political leaders and party members should be free to support candidates of their choice without intimidation, provided they act within the law.
Ulasi also urged opposition parties to field candidates with proven integrity and public confidence, arguing that Nigerians deserve leaders capable of addressing the country’s challenges through responsible governance, accountability, and policies that promote national unity and citizens’ welfare.
