Israeli Army Preparing Raid on West Bank City of Nablus and Surrounding Villages After Shootout

The Israeli military is reportedly preparing a large-scale operation in the occupied West Bank city of Nablus and nearby villages following a deadly shooting near the village of Tal, according to Al Jazeera English on Friday, July 24, 2026.

Israeli Army Radio reported that the operation will focus on arresting dozens of Palestinians suspected by Israeli security officials of involvement in the exchange of gunfire. Troops are being deployed across Nablus and surrounding communities as part of an expanded security response.

According to Channel 13, the military has cancelled leave for soldiers and deployed five additional military companies, including units from the elite Paratroopers Brigade, to reinforce forces in the West Bank.

Israeli Army Radio also reported that an initial military investigation found the shooting was not premeditated, suggesting the confrontation developed unexpectedly rather than as a planned attack.

The developments follow reports that Israeli forces entered Nablus with a large convoy of military vehicles and later entered Nablus Specialised Hospital, although authorities have not explained the purpose of the move. Israeli authorities have not released further details about the planned operation or confirmed the number of expected arrests as tensions remain high across the West Bank.
