The Younger Generation of Northern Gladiators Aged 70 and Below Are Already Looking to 2031 — Ebiseni

Afenifere Secretary General Sola Ebiseni has said many influential political figures in Northern Nigeria are already focusing on the 2031 presidential election rather than the 2027 contest.

Speaking in an interview on Arise News, Ebiseni said consultations across Nigeria’s geopolitical zones suggest that several political stakeholders are looking beyond the next general election.

“The younger generation of Northern gladiators, those aged 70 years and below, are already looking forward to 2031,” he said.

Ebiseni made the remarks while defending the position of the Southern and Middle Belt Leaders Forum that the presidency should remain in the South until 2031, arguing that the arrangement would promote political stability and uphold Nigeria’s informal power rotation principle.

He added that discussions with stakeholders indicate some regions are already planning for the political landscape after 2027 rather than challenging the existing zoning understanding. Ebiseni also urged political leaders across all geopolitical zones to promote unity, fairness, and stability as preparations for the next general election continue.
