Human rights activist and Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) chieftain Aisha Yesufu has said she will no longer grant media interviews that are not focused on Peter Obi’s bid to become Nigeria’s president in 2027.
In a video podcast shared on her X account after returning from a trip abroad, Yesufu said her priority over the next six months would be campaigning for Obi’s election and inauguration.
“Dear Media/Podcasts, any interview that is not about getting Peter Obi elected and sworn into office, count me out,” she said, adding that journalists should not invite her to discuss issues unrelated to Obi’s presidential campaign during that period.
Yesufu also expressed dissatisfaction with the nature of questions often directed at political activists, arguing that it is the responsibility of candidates seeking public office—not their supporters—to explain how they intend to address Nigeria’s challenges.
She urged journalists to focus their questioning on political office seekers rather than campaigners as preparations for the 2027 general election gather pace.
