I Saw the Suspect Who Raped and Killed My Sister, He Could Not Have Killed Her Alone – Chief Madubugo

Chief Damian Madubugo, a relative of a 28-year-old woman allegedly raped and murdered in Imo State, has urged security agencies to identify, arrest and prosecute everyone involved in the incident.

Speaking in a video interview shared by The PUNCH, Madubugo alleged that the victim was attacked while on her way to work in the early hours of Tuesday last week after being intercepted by hoodlums who raped, killed and dumped her body in a roadside canal. He claimed the victim cried out for help during the attack, but no one came to her aid.

Madubugo said residents later overpowered one suspect and handed him over to the police, while the victim’s body was taken to a mortuary. He alleged the suspect was a neighbour whom the deceased had previously accused of making unwanted advances, harassing her and disconnecting electricity to their residence. He further claimed the same neighbour later returned the victim’s handbag to her younger sister.

He commended the police for their investigation but insisted others were involved.

“I saw the suspect who killed my sister. He has a very small stature; he couldn’t have killed my sister alone. Even the police DPO confirmed it. The girl was bigger than the suspect, so he couldn’t have killed her alone. There are people who helped him,” Madubugo said.
