NDC Spokesman Reacts as Lagos Lawmaker Desmond Elliot Is Seen With Ibrahim Chatta on a Movie Set

The National Spokesperson of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Theo Abu Agada, has praised Lagos State lawmaker and Nollywood actor Desmond Elliot after photos of him working on a movie set alongside actor Ibrahim Chatta circulated on social media.

In a post on his verified X account on Saturday, August 1, 2026, Agada described Elliot’s continued involvement in the film industry while serving in public office as a positive example of public service.

The images sparked discussion online, with many users commenting on Elliot’s return to filmmaking. Before entering politics, the Surulere Constituency representative in the Lagos State House of Assembly built a successful career as a Nollywood actor and filmmaker.

Agada argued that holding political office should not permanently replace an individual’s profession and that elected officials should be able to return to their careers after completing their public service.

“I am actually proud of him. This is how it should be. After public service, people should be able to go back to their jobs and real careers. It will make politicians less desperate,” Agada wrote.
