N/W Has 7 States, Other Zones Have 6. What’s S/E’s Offence for Having 5? We Want Adada or Anioma — Sen. Nwaebonyi

Senator Onyekachi Nwaebonyi has reiterated his support for the creation of an additional state in the South-East, saying he will continue to advocate for it until it becomes a reality.

Speaking during an interview with Seun Okinbaloye on the Mic On Podcast, Nwaebonyi argued that the South-East is unfairly disadvantaged as the only geopolitical zone with five states.

He noted that the North-West has seven states, while most other geopolitical zones have six, describing the disparity as an imbalance that should be addressed.

According to the senator, the proposed additional state could be named either Adada or Anioma, adding that he would support whichever proposal is eventually approved.

“It is an imbalance because if you look at other geopolitical zones, some like the North-West have seven states, others have six states. What is the offence of the South-East for having five states? That is why we are agitating for one additional state. We have two propositions for the name, Adada State and Anioma State. Whichever one,” Nwaebonyi said.
