First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu has praised the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, for the redevelopment of Abuja’s City Gate, describing the transformation as remarkable.
According to a Vanguard report published on Monday, August 3, 2026, the First Lady made the remarks at a ceremony recognising the environmental initiatives of the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA).

She said the redevelopment of the City Gate reflected the objectives of the Community Category of the Renewed Hope Initiative’s Green Nigeria Challenge, noting that it had improved the environment while creating a recreational space for residents and visitors.
“When I saw what he did with the City Gate, my God, unbelievable. I want to thank him. He has done very well,” Senator Tinubu said.
The First Lady added that Wike’s tenure would ultimately be assessed based on his contributions to the development of the nation’s capital. She also commended the FCT Administration for implementing environmental initiatives aimed at improving public spaces, cleaner surroundings and recreational infrastructure across Abuja. The City Gate redevelopment was highlighted as an example of efforts to enhance public infrastructure and environmental sustainability in the Federal Capital Territory.
