The National President of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN), Bishop Francis Wale Oke, has criticised moves to regulate preaching in commercial vehicles, insisting that Christians will continue to evangelise despite any legal restrictions.
According to a Daily Post report published on Monday, August 3, 2026, Oke made the remarks in a widely circulated video while reacting to discussions on regulating public preaching in buses and other commercial vehicles.
He said preaching the gospel is a divine command from Jesus Christ that cannot be overridden by human laws, urging Christians not to be intimidated by proposed restrictions.
“The preaching of the gospel is a command from our Lord Jesus Christ, and no human law can cancel God’s instruction,” he said.
Oke encouraged believers to continue preaching in buses, taxis and other public places, stressing that the PFN would not abandon what it considers its God-given mandate.
He also questioned why authorities were focusing on public evangelism instead of violent crimes.
“You don’t go after killers, those beheading people, you don’t go after kidnappers, you don’t go after bandits, but you are going after us preaching the gospel of peace,” he said.
The PFN president urged the government to prioritise tackling insecurity and violent crime, while encouraging Christians to remain peaceful, law-abiding and committed to sharing what he described as the gospel of peace, hope and righteousness.
