


Four persons, including a father and his two children have been k!lled in a late-night attack on Abaushwa community in Ndzorov, near Gbajimba, the headquarters of Guma Local Government Area of Benue State.

The attack, reportedly carried out by suspected armed herders, occurred at about 11:00 p.m. on Monday, August 3, 2026 throwing residents into panic as they fled for safety.

Those reported k!lled include Mr. Ermberga Akombu, his son, Ter Upool, and his daughter.

One other person was k!lled while several other residents sustained varying degrees of injuries during the attack.

The incident has heightened concerns over insecurity in Guma Local Government Area, which has witnessed repeated attacks in recent years.

The Executive Chairman of Guma Local Government Council, Hon. Maurice Orwough, has strongly condemned the attack which he claimed was carried out by suspected herdsmen.Â

The chairman, in a statement issued on Monday, August 4, by his Personal Assistant On Communication and Strategy, Ernest Tortiv, described the incident as heartbreaking and unacceptable.

He expressed his heartfelt condolences to the families of those who lost their loved ones and prayed for the speedy recovery of those who were injured in the attack.

The Chairman assured residents that security forces have already been deployed to Abaushwa to restore peace, protect lives and property, and prevent further attacks.

He urged the people to remain calm, cooperate with security agencies, and continue to provide useful information that will help in the fight against insecurity.
