APC chieftain Farouk Aliyu says the party retained its Muslim-Muslim presidential ticket because it delivered victory in 2023 and believes it can do so again. Speaking on Arise News, he argued that concerns about Islamisation raised before the last election had not materialised.
Aliyu said the controversy differs from the 1993 MKO Abiola–Babagana Kingibe ticket because Nigeria has since experienced increased religious intolerance and violence. He maintained the Tinubu administration has governed without religious discrimination, adding that while other parties field Muslim-Christian tickets, the APC chose a Muslim-Muslim ticket because it believes the strategy remains effective.
