ActionAid Nigeria Country Director, Dr. Andrew Mamedu, has called for a comprehensive investigation into the controversy surrounding Adeniyi Adeyemi and the Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC), arguing that the matter extends beyond the actions of a single individual.
Speaking during an interview aired on Arise News on Tuesday, July 14, 2026, Mamedu questioned how official processes linked to the PFIPC allegedly continued while Adeyemi was reportedly in detention.
“At one point, he was in detention when this year’s budget was being debated, and somebody was still processing it,” Mamedu said.
He argued that the development raises important questions about those who allegedly handled documents, approvals and budget-related processes connected to the PFIPC during the period Adeyemi was no longer in a position to do so.
According to Mamedu, investigators should identify and examine the roles of everyone who may have participated in processing or approving activities linked to the alleged agency.
He maintained that focusing the investigation solely on Adeyemi would fail to address the broader issues raised by the controversy, urging authorities to carry out a thorough probe involving all individuals connected to the matter, regardless of their positions.
Mamedu added that the case presents an opportunity to strengthen institutional accountability by uncovering any systemic failures and ensuring that anyone found culpable is held accountable in accordance with the law.
