A video showing Nigerian billionaire and Group Chief Executive Officer of United Bank for Africa (UBA), Tony Elumelu, buying and eating roasted corn from a roadside vendor has attracted reactions on social media.
The video, shared by the Nigerian Tribune on its official X account on Sunday, July 5, 2026, shows Elumelu stopping at the roadside with some of his aides before purchasing roasted corn and chatting with the vendor while eating.
According to reports, the video gained attention shortly after Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, spoke about small-scale businesses that can be started with modest capital, a discussion that included businesses such as akara.
Sharing the clip, the Nigerian Tribune wrote: “Tony Elumelu spotted buying roasted corn from roadside vendor.”
The video has since generated reactions online, with many social media users commenting on the billionaire businessman’s interaction with the roadside trader.
