Dr. Yunusa Tanko, National Coordinator of the Obidient Movement Worldwide, has said former Vice President Atiku Abubakar recognizes Peter Obi’s leadership and financial management abilities.
Speaking on Trust TV, Tanko described Atiku as a courteous individual and said his confidence in Obi was shaped by their previous working relationship.
Tanko claimed that during their collaboration, a project initially estimated at about ₦30 billion was reviewed by Obi, who concluded it could be completed for roughly ₦3 billion by eliminating unnecessary costs. He said Obi presented an alternative strategy, which Atiku eventually accepted after reviewing the proposal.
According to Tanko, the experience demonstrated Obi’s ability to manage public resources prudently and make sound financial decisions.
“He understood what Peter Obi could do, he knows he has the ability to create wealth, and he knows he can correctly account for every single kobo,” Tanko said.
He added that if opposition parties form a coalition ahead of future elections, the choice of a candidate should be based on fairness and merit, arguing that Obi possesses the qualities needed for national leadership.
