Bandits Kill Security Guard, Abduct Three Others in Abuja

Suspected bandits have killed a security guard and abducted three people, including a pastor, during an attack on Mpape in the Bwari Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

The attackers, reportedly about 10 in number, struck the Yellow House area of Mpape shortly before 11 p.m. on Wednesday, targeting a residence. However, they retreated after a police patrol team responded to a distress call and engaged them in a gun battle.

According to residents, the gunmen abducted a pastor who was returning home after failing to breach the targeted house. They also kidnapped two other residents as they fled the area, leaving the pastor’s vehicle behind. Security operatives later recovered the abandoned car.

A resident was also shot in the leg during the attack and was taken to hospital by police for treatment. Gunfire reportedly continued in the community until about 2 a.m.

The incident occurred in Mpape, a community located near Maitama and close to a military barracks in Abuja. The FCT Police Command had not commented on the attack as of the time of reporting, as spokesperson SP Josephine Adeh did not respond to calls or messages.
