Commander of the Force Intelligence Department–Force Tactical Squad, Godfrey Ogbeide, says one of the suspected kidnappers arrested during a recent operation in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) was found with a gunshot wound after security operatives raided the group’s hideout.
Speaking during the parade of suspected kidnappers in an interview aired on Channels Television on Wednesday, July 1, 2026, Ogbeide said officers searched the gang’s camp, located inside a cave, and made several discoveries.
“While they were in their camp, in the cave which we visited yesterday, we found out that one of the suspects sustained gunshot injuries on his leg,” Ogbeide said.
Ogbeide did not state how the suspect sustained the injury but said it was discovered during the search of the hideout following the arrests. He added that the operation also led to the recovery of weapons and other items believed to have been used by the criminal group.
The raid is part of the Nigeria Police Force’s ongoing intelligence-led operations aimed at dismantling kidnapping networks operating in the FCT and neighbouring communities.
