ECG blames upstream fault for dumsor across Western Region

The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has explained that the ongoing power outage affecting several communities in the Western Region stems from an upstream fault.

In a public notice released on Thursday, June 18, 2026, the company listed a number of affected areas, including Diabene, Nkroful, Kansawurodu, Ntankorful, Mt Zion, Anaji, East Tanokrom, TTI, Effiakuma, Effia, SSNIT Flats, Adiembra, Kweikuma, Essaman, Nkontompo, parts of BU, Fijai, Ahenkofikrom, Kojokrom, Beahu, Ewusiejoe, Aboadze, Ahanta, Mpintsin, Sofokrom and nearby communities.

ECG said the problem originates from a source outside its immediate power distribution network. As a result, electricity supply to the affected communities has been interrupted.

The company assured customers that its technical team remains on alert and is working closely with relevant stakeholders to help restore power once the upstream challenge is resolved.

ECG also apologised for the disruption and acknowledged the inconvenience residents and businesses are experiencing.

The company appealed to customers to remain patient as efforts continue to bring the electricity supply back to normal.
