ECOWAS to donate US$250,000 to Ghana flood victims

The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) is expected to donate US$250,000 (about GH₵3 million) to support people affected by Ghana’s recent devastating floods.

The announcement was made by the Minister for Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, in a Facebook post.

According to the Minister, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has officially been informed by ECOWAS about the donation, which is meant to provide relief to flood victims.

He assured Ghanaians that, to ensure transparency and accountability, the ministry will transfer the full amount to the appropriate authorities as soon as the money is received.

On behalf of the Government of Ghana, the ministry expressed its sincere appreciation to ECOWAS for its support, describing the gesture as a demonstration of solidarity and true African compassion during this difficult time.
