The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has arrested a 32-year-old Cameroonian national, Emmanuel Acha Leku, for the alleged murder of his 22-year-old friend, Emmanuel Chukwuemeka, following a dispute over the sharing of illicit funds.
FCT Commissioner of Police, CP Ahmed Sanusi, confirmed the arrest. He disclosed that on May 2, detectives attached to the Apo Divisional Headquarters received a missing person and suspected kidnapping report regarding Chukwuemeka, who had been unreachable since April 21, 2026.
In a coordinated operation, the FCT Command collaborated with the Benue State Police Command to locate the suspects. Utilizing advanced digital reconstructive intelligence, operatives tracked and apprehended Leku alongside his girlfriend, Ms. Kazan Vincent. The duo was arrested in Adikpo, located within the Kwande Local Government Area of Benue State.
According to CP Sanusi, preliminary investigations revealed a history of illicit transactions between the principal suspect and the victim. Leku confessed to the crime, alleging that the deceased was his accomplice in an internet fraud scheme. He claimed that after successfully defrauding a victim, Chukwuemeka absconded with the entire payout and refused to remit Leku’s agreed share, triggering the fatal confrontation.
‘’Angered by this development, the suspect lured the deceased to a mountainous area in Lokogoma, where he murdered him. Thereafter, he used the deceased’s phone to demand a ransom of five million naira from family members in an attempt to disguise the murder as a kidnapping incident.
Further investigations revealed that after committing the crime, the suspect fled to Benue State, where he joined his girlfriend (Ms. Ms. Kazan Vincent) and was making arrangements to escape to his country of origin before his eventual arrest.” the police boss said
Upon arrest, two (2) mobile phones were recovered from the suspect including that of the deceased.
The police boss disclosed that the decomposing remains of the victim has been recovered and deposited at Sahad Hospital, Apo, for autopsy.
