Former Oyo First Lady, Florence Ajimobi Arrives in Austria to Assume Duty as Nigeria’s Ambassador

Former Oyo State First Lady Dr. Florence Ajimobi has arrived in Vienna to begin her duties as Nigeria’s Ambassador to the Republic of Austria and Permanent Representative to the international organizations based in the Austrian capital.

Ajimobi announced her arrival in an Instagram post on Friday, July 3, 2026, sharing photographs marking the start of her diplomatic assignment following her appointment by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

As ambassador, she will oversee Nigeria’s diplomatic relations with Austria, promote bilateral cooperation and represent the country’s interests in engagements with the Austrian government. She will also serve as Nigeria’s Permanent Representative to the international organizations in Vienna, including major United Nations agencies, where she will advance Nigeria’s positions on issues such as international cooperation, development, security and energy.

Her appointment has attracted congratulatory messages from political leaders, diplomats and associates, who expressed confidence in her ability to represent Nigeria effectively.

Ajimobi previously served as First Lady of Oyo State during the administration of her late husband, former Governor Abiola Ajimobi, and was involved in initiatives focused on women, children, healthcare and social welfare.
