A Nigerian woman has cried out for help over her brother’s alleged drug addiction, saying his struggle began after he gained admission to the University of Lagos in 2019 and has continued for years.
In an emotional video, she said she has taken him to about seven psychiatric facilities and treatment homes, including hospitals in Yaba and a military hospital, but his condition has allegedly continued to worsen.
She said her brother has become violent and destructive and often wanders around Lagos, leaving her exhausted after years of being his primary caregiver.
The woman also revealed that she moved out of the family home with her daughter to protect her from the situation, but her brother and parents have now returned to her home after they were reportedly evicted.
“I’m tired of carrying responsibilities that I had no business carrying,” she said, appealing to anyone who can help her find a solution.
“I don’t know where else to take him. I’ve taken him to hospitals. I’ve taken him to church. I don’t know again. I’m tired. Please, I’m drowning. I need help.”
