“I Have Long Held My Peace, But Now I Will Rise Like a Wounded Lion, and I Will Devour at Once” – Oyedepo

The Presiding Bishop of Living Faith Church Worldwide, David Oyedepo, has condemned the recurring killings in Nigeria, declaring that those he alleged were sponsoring and funding violent attacks would face God’s judgment.

According to a Nigerian Tribune report published on Monday, August 3, 2026, Oyedepo made the remarks during a church service on Sunday following the July 27 attack in Kaduna State, which reportedly claimed at least 30 lives, including women and children.

The cleric expressed concern over the continued loss of lives across the country, alleging that the persistence of the attacks suggested that those sponsoring the violence had not been brought to justice.

“The fact that killing continues to trail us here in Nigeria is a clear indication that there are sponsors… I curse the sponsors of violence and killings in Nigeria, and those that fund these vandals and terrorists,” he said.

Oyedepo also criticised the government’s response to insecurity, saying he had remained silent on the issue for a long time because he believed the situation would eventually be addressed.

“I have been silent but now I must speak up. I am like a wounded lion, and I shall rise and devour,” the bishop said.

His comments come amid continued public concern over insecurity and recurring attacks in several parts of Nigeria.
