Peter Obi says he will continue speaking on national issues despite what he described as intimidation and personal risks, adding that he has prepared his family for any consequences.
Speaking during an interview on With Chude, Obi alleged that opposition politicians face increasing pressure and intimidation. “I have told my children and my wife that whatever happens, so be it. I cannot stop speaking the truth,” he said.
The former Anambra State governor claimed some airport workers avoided greeting him for fear of becoming targets, while friends who invited him to family events later asked him not to attend because of concerns over possible repercussions. He argued that such incidents reflect a climate of fear that should not exist in a democratic society, where citizens should be free to associate without political consequences.
Obi maintained that his criticism of the government is motivated by a desire to improve Nigeria rather than personal ambition. He also urged Nigerians, particularly young people, to remain hopeful and actively support accountability, good governance and democratic values. The Presidency has not publicly responded to Obi’s latest allegations.
