I Want to Make Movies That Teach About God and Inspire People Rather Than Glorify Rituals — Abubakar

Nollywood actress Halima Abubakar has announced her return to the entertainment industry after spending several years away, saying she plans to produce films centered on faith, hope, and positive values.

According to a Nigerian Tribune report published on Saturday, July 18, 2026, Abubakar made the announcement during a thanksgiving service in Lagos, where she attributed her recovery from a prolonged illness to divine intervention.

Reflecting on her health challenges, the actress said the experience transformed her outlook on life and inspired her to rethink her purpose in the film industry.

Abubakar revealed that she intends to return as a producer, focusing on projects that promote spiritual growth and encourage audiences rather than stories centered on ritual practices.

“I’m coming back as a producer. I want to make movies that teach about God and inspire people rather than glorify rituals,” she said.

She added that the lessons she learned during her recovery have shaped her renewed vision for filmmaking, expressing her commitment to creating meaningful content that positively impacts viewers and reflects her personal beliefs.
