I Went to My Aunt’s Home for Wedding; 6 Kidnappers Caught and Raped Me, That’s Why I’ve a Baby—Victim

Jamila, a kidnap survivor from Yan Tumaki Ward in Katsina State, has recounted how she was abducted and sexually assaulted during a visit to her aunt’s home for a wedding in December 2025.

Speaking in an interview with News Central TV, Jamila said six kidnappers, riding on two motorcycles, abducted her and three of her friends during the visit. She alleged that the victims were repeatedly raped while in captivity.

Jamila said the baby she now carries was conceived as a result of the sexual assault she suffered during the abduction.

“I went to my aunt’s place for a wedding in December last year when we were attacked by kidnappers. The kidnappers came on two motorcycles, with three on each. We were kidnapped and raped, and that is the reason why I have this baby on my back,” she said.

Her account highlights the continued humanitarian impact of banditry and kidnappings in parts of Katsina State, where victims have reported abduction, sexual violence and other abuses during captivity.
